What Social Security is about
From a friend who was in the financial world before he retired. This is very appreciated in light of what's going on!! Remember not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did to. It total 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only $30,000 over your forty-year working life, that's close to $220,500. If you calculate the future value of $4500 per year[yours and your employer's contribution] at a simple 5% [less than what the government pays on the money that it borrows], after 49 years of working you have $892,919.98. If you took out only 3% per year, you would receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years and that's with no interest paid on the final amount on deposit! If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you have a lifetime income of $2976.40 per month. Folks in Washington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madhoff ever did. Entitlement, my foot, I paid cash for my Social Security insurance!! Just because the folks in Washington have borrowed the money, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!! Congressional benefits, a.k.a. free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that's welfare and they have to call my retirement entitlements!!!! They call social security and Medicare an entitlement, even though most of those have been paying for it all our working lives and now when it's time for us the clock the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place? They can bail out businesses, banks and Wall Street without batting an eye to do it. Why does this happen? Talk about allowing Wall Street to have our money, the privatization of Social Security is wrong, wrong, wrong we cannot allow this to happen, not today, not tomorrow or ever. It's our money, the peoples not the governments, not big business, not Wall Street. We shall not let this happen.

What is wrong with this country?
Before I started to write this,I give it much thought, the events of the last few days have left mewith the feeling that there is not equal justice for all. We executed a man in Georgia that maybe was innocent of the charges against him, I have always thought, that in a capital punishment trial if the witness recanted his or her statement that it was cause for a mistrial. In this case we had seven witnesses recant their testimony, but the judicial system, the clemency board, Supreme Court found that this wasn't true if nothing else this man should have been granted clemency, a new trial. The death penalty in this country has to be repealed, we cannot be a civilized country with the death penalty in place supposedly we are the beacon of the world and to unfairly execute a man when there is reasonable doubt as to his guilt I just happen to think that this makes us look like a country that doesn't care about the rights of man. The fact that this was a black man in the South was not afforded the rights that white people are. I believe it states in the declaration of independence that all men are created equal. It seems strikingly strange that at the anniversary of the start of the Civil War that certain sectors of our country are not afforded the rights of the rest of the country. Due process of trials of capital offenses and the carrying out of sentences to the fullest extent of the law is an unalienable right of all citizens of this country. When there is reasonable doubt, the defendant in these cases should have all means at his or her disposal to prove their innocence and we should make sure that all avenues of doubt are therefore addressed before we execute the sentence of the court. Remember, that this execution was done in our name for the people I think that means you and me, we should always make sure that we are right when it comes to executing a fellow human being.
We should ask our court system to abolish the death penalty in this country. I would consider that the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment, the Bible states thou shall not kill.

Has class warfare been declared
The president, came out today and challenged the Republicans to pass the jobs act, to raise taxes on the wealthy as 81% of the American people are for, the Republicans replied that this is class warfare, going after rich people, big corporations hedge fund managers and all CEOs to ask them for shared sacrifice is not the American way. At a time when our country is in need of revenues closing tax loopholes for the rich is that class welfare. Our history has showed us that in times of crisis we all must pull together, if you believe in this country that all people are equal, that the rich are not above us but the same as you and me, there should be no debate on raising finances money for the people that are not as affluent or had the power to buy a lobbyist on their behalf.
The Republicans in Congress, the Senate and state offices across this country have all sworn an oath not to increase taxes, close loopholes. Grover Norquist is not an elected official, a public official, he is a lobbyist to have pledged to him for the interest of the top 2% that they will not raise taxes for as long as they are in office. Any time that the issue of raising taxes is presented by this president, this Democratic controlled Senate, the House Republicans will come out and say that this is class warfare. For anyone to believe this and anyone that supports this idea is just wrong. The people at the House of Representatives represent is not just the rich and big business but the 98% do not make lots and lots of money. The Constitution is the only pledge or oath that any public official should show any type of respect for. Votes in Congress should not be bought by anyone, this is a house of the people not a big business, not rich people, not special interest. Our government is of the people, by the people, for the people no where does it say we must support the money interest of this country. If you believe in the principles of our founding fathers brought to this country you would know that the only class in this country is Americans. Of all the places in the world we are one people one country one interest that the laws of this country are for all of us no matter what race creed or color.
The founding fathers brought to this country freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom to choose our way of life to vote for someone to represent us in the halls of government we pay these people with our tax dollars, with the trust of the people, to do the people's work. In this trust we only ask that the elected officials work for the good of all, not for the good of a few. Remember we're all in this together as a country, as a people, we are Americans we will prevail, no challenge is too great, too difficult or too hard to tackle, WE ARE AMERICANS. Check spelling
